Welcome!

Thank You for choosing our practice for your pet's care. It is our mission to provide quality pet care and client education. We offer full veterinary services such as internal medicine, dermatology, surgery and dental care. We will try to be as flexible as possible in all matters. We hope this information will help you utilize our facility more efficiently.

Emergencies

During office hours CRITICAL EMERGENCIES will be handled immediately. Minor emergencies are prioritized on the basis of their severity. Please call ahead before you leave to make sure a doctor is available to care for your pet's emergency, and also so the staff can prepare for your pet's needs. After hours emergency services are available for current-active clients by calling our regular office number. Your call will be screened by our answering service, and if necessary, forwarded to a doctor. If the doctors are not immediately available you will be informed of the available options.

Scheduling Appointments

We are currently scheduling routine appointments such as vaccinations and physical exams 1 month in advance. Medical appointments will be prioritized based on their severity and scheduled on that basis. If your pet is gravely ill but your schedule prevents you from getting an appointment, your pet can be dropped off at the office to be evaluated and treated and picked up at a later time (please notify us by phone if you choose to do this). If you would like to see a specific doctor you must request them when you make your appointment, but this could delay a timely visit.

When You Come For a Visit

Please restrain your pet at all times while on our property. For example, dogs on a leash and cats in a carrier. For your children's safety please do not let them alone in the lobby area. If you are not able to take your child into an exam room please make arrangements for them to be attended to. Our staff will not be held responsible for any injury that may occur to unattended children. If your pet has a bowel movement outside, please inform the staff.

Contacting Our Office

In order to help our clients, and reduce the amount of frustration due to extremely busy phone lines, here are some helpful hints. Do not call on Monday morning unless your pet has a medical reason to be seen that day. During the week, between the hours of 9 a.m. - 11 a.m., our phone lines are very busy. We advise waiting to call after 11 a.m. if possible.

Prescription Refills

For our clients convenience we have a prescription refill line. This is a phone line dedicated for prescription refills or re-ordering prescription diet foods. Just call 812-0454 and follow the instructions. Please allow us 12 hours to fill your pets prescription. This includes flea/tick control products and heartworm preventatives. If you are re-ordering any prescription diets please call 1 week in advance to place your order. If your pet is difficult to medicate ask us about specially formulated flavors and transdermal creme.

Surgeries

Most scheduled procedures require the patient be dropped off at 8 a.m. If this is not possible, please tell a staff member and they will try to make other arrangements. Please remember that if your pet is scheduled for anesthesia you must remove their food after midnight the night before the procedure, and no water after 7 a.m. the day of the procedure. We will require a phone number at drop off so that we may contact you after the procedure is complete. When picking up your pet please bring a blanket for your car in case of vomiting or bleeding. At home you may want to provide an area for your pet that can be easily cleaned.

Diagnostic Testing

We are pleased to announce that we have instituted many new diagnostic tests to detect certain diseases before they harm your pet's health. These include such tests as early kidney disease detection, Glaucoma testing, Lymes Disease, Allergy Test, Urine Culture and Sensitivity and Coagulation disorders. Additionally we have added new state of the art equipment such as dental radiology, fetal monitoring, special ear treatment machine, endoscopes and anesthetic monitoring for blood pressure, blood oxygenation and ECG. Exam room monitors are used to allow you the owner to visualize your pet ear canal in the event of an infection

Telephone Calls

Our office receives a large number of telephone calls and our staff is trained to handle most of these calls. If they feel they cannot advise you, they will consult with a Doctor and relay the message to you or in some situations have a Doctor call you back. Unless it is an emergency the Doctor will not leave a patient or surgery to take a telephone call.
